The last couple of overs have made it entirely India’s session with five wickets falling on the fourth morning of the Vizag Test. While Zac Crawley and Jonny Bairstow were in the middle, England looked to be in the game, but the hosts are firmly on top now with both of them departing in quick succession.
Crawley, in particular, was a big blow as he batted immaculately for his 73, having seen off the probing spell of Jasprit Bumrah at the start of play before looking secure against Ravichandran Ashwin who bowled beautifully to picked up two wickets today. The opener fell to Kuldeep Yadav who was brought into the attack very late, only minutes before the lunch break, and struck in his very first over.
Before his introduction, Axar Patel had operated unchanged from that end in an extended spell in which he went at over six runs an over. England, true to word, batted positively and scored a lot of runs but they have lost wickets too in the process.
