Since England introduced their aggressive brand of cricket back in 2022, they did not face a series defeats in Tests until they faced India on Indian soil. Ben Stokes and Co. could not continue their winning ways because of the Indian spinners, who ensured India remained undefeated in a Test series at home since 2012.

Rohit Sharma and Co. took an unassailable 3-1 lead in the series and are eyeing a 4-1 after they bundled out the visitors for 218 runs in their first innings. India then ended Day 1 at 135 for 1.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Roger Binny believes the reason why England lost the series is due to captain Stokes’ aggressive captaincy. Binny said England needed to plan something to take on the spinners instead of following the Bazball approach.

Well, the captaincy of Ben Stokes so far has been more aggressive, and I think that has been the (reason for their) downfall in the few Test matches. Being so aggressive and trying to take on the Indian spinners in difficult times rather than hanging around and trying to make a big score. Binny told PTI
