Chicago Cubs Top 10 Prospects Check-In

OF – Pete Crow-Armstrong – Iowa Cubs

Crow-Armstrong played five games for the Iowa Cubs in the last seven days. He had 21 at-bats with two runs scored, four hits, three doubles, two RBIs, one walk, and six Ks. He slashed .190/.261/.333 with a .594 OPS on the series.

RHP – Cade Horton – Tennessee Smokies

Horton made one start over the last seven days; he did not factor in the decision as he went 3.1 innings. He gave up three hits, one earned run, two free passes, and struck out three. He finished with a 2.70 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP. His next start will come against the Buffalo Bisons on Tuesday, April 23rd.

OF – Owen Caissie – Iowa Cubs

Caissie played five games in this series. He had 20 at-bats, three runs scored, six hits, two doubles, one home run, three RBIs, two walks, four Ks, and slashed ..300/.364/.550 with a .914 OPS On the series.

1B – Michael Busch – Chicago Cubs

Michael Busch played in three games in the last seven Cubs. He had 12 at-bats, one run scored, four hits, three RBIs, four strikeouts, and slashed .333/.333/.333 with a .666 OPS.

OF – Kevin Alcantara – Tennessee Smokies

Alcantara played in four games in the last seven days for the Smokies. He had 16 at-bats with two runs scored, nine hits, one double, two home runs, three RBIs, one walk, and two strikeouts in the last seven days. He slashed .563/.588/1.000 with a 1.588 OPS.

2B/3B – Matt Shaw – Tennessee Smokies

Shaw played in five of the Smokies’ games this past week. He had 16 at-bats, three runs scored, two hits, four walks, four strikeouts, and two stolen bases. He slashed .125/.300/.125 with an OPS of .425.

2B – James Triantos – Tennessee Smokies

Triantos played in four games for the Cubs in the last seven days. He had 13 at-bats, two runs scored, four hits, two RBIs, two walks, two strikeouts, and two stolen bases. He slashed .308/.375/.308 with a .683 OPS on the week.

P – Jordan Wicks – Chicago Cubs

Jordan Wicks made one start in the last seven days for the Cubs, working 4.1 innings, allowing five hits, two earned runs, one home run, one free pass, and five strikeouts. He had a 4.15 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP. He will make two starts this week: Tuesday, April 23rd, against the Astros and Sunday, April 28th, against the Boston Red Sox.

RHP – Ben Brown – Chicago Cubs

Brown appeared in one game in the last seven days. He pitched two innings, giving up two hits and striking out three. Brown is not scheduled to make another start, and it will be interesting to see if he sticks in the bullpen or is optioned back to Iowa, the Triple-A affiliate.

1B – Moises Ballerestos – Tennesee Smokies

Ballesteros played in three of the games this week. He had eight at-bats, one hit, one RBI, one walk, one strikeout, and slashed .125/.222/.125 with a .347 OPS this week.

The Week Ahead:

Iowa Cubs (13-8)

The Iowa Cubs went four and two against the St. Louisville Bats this past series, improving their record to 13-8 this season. They will travel to play the Buffalo Bisons next in a six-game series. The Bison are the Triple-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, who have ITD’s 86th-ranked Prospect INF Orelvis Martinez and 24th-ranked prospect LHP Ricky Tiedemann on their roster

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans split the series with Kannapolis Cannon Ballers, the Single-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox for a six-game series. They will now travel to play the Lynchburg Hill Cats, the Single-A affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians.
